    Royalty
    King- His word is law above all others. He will rule along with the Queen in ruling the lands fair and justly. He may breed with any Lady, Precept, or Brood he pleases, if there is no Queen or she is not his mate. The King shall Not be challenged for his rank.

    Queen- The Queen is appointed by the King. She shall aid him in the governing of the realm. She shall also be present at any challenge to pass judgement. She may breed with any Lord, Marshal, or Stud she pleases, if there is no King or he is not her mate. The Queen shall Not be challenged for her rank.

    Lord/Lady Protector- Should any king or queen come to the throne under three years of age, a council of Lords and Ladies will appoint a horse to act as advisor and protector of a young monarch. This horse will help teach the young monarch all aspects of ruling over the kingdom. The Protector will also answer any threats to the throne. When the monarch reaches the age of three, the Protector shall turn complete control over to the monarch.

    Baron/Baroness- This rank is given to any horse (or wolf) adopted into the royal family for one reason or the other. Being adopted into the royal family is very rare. The royals will only adopt foals if no other mare is available to care for the foal or if royals feel that they owe the parents something. The only non-horse to hold this rank is a wolf named Malnisa. If something should happen to all the royal line, Malnisa would act as Queen Regent until the horses of Elysium appoint a new monarch.

    Clergy
    Star Counsel- The horse that claims the title of Star Counsel is essentially the High Priest/ess of Ehlana and the other gods. This horse shall be the Advisor to the King and Queen as well as the spiritual leader of the realm. This position is awarded by Ehlana herself, therefore it is unchallengable.

    Star Apprentice- This horse or youth has been hand selected to be the next in line for Star Counsel. It will learn all the it needs to know to take up the mantle of Star Counsel upon Star Counsel’s death. This position is not challengeable.

    Priest/Priestess- Priests and Priestesses are the mediums for the Gods to convey infomation to the world. These horses dwell in Windsong Glade, Ehlana's sanctuary. While Ehlana is whom they serve the most, the serve the others as well. Priests are expected to heal any horse that needs help and to perform ceremonies. The horse holding the rank of Star Counsel is considered the leader of the priests, but Star Apprentice is the leader of the horses within Windsong Glade.These horses are equal in rank to each other beneath Star Counsel and exist outside of the ranking system of the herds. They answer only to the King and Queen, besides the Gods, of course.

    Leadership
    Lord- He is the male lead of a herd. He is responsible for protecting his herd as well as over-seeing that the laws are upheld. He shall choose his land's Lady. The Lord is responsible for seeing that his lands are populated. The Lord may breed with any mare in his land, save Sentinels. The Lord May be challenged for his rank.

    Lady- She is the female lead of a herd. She shall help the Lord over-see the protection and order of the herd. She shall also be responsible for seeing that the land’s population is adequate. The Lady may breed with any stallion with in her land, save Sentinels.The Lady May be challenged for her rank.

    Marshal- The Marshal is the stallion that is the right hand of the Lord. He is to help patrol the borders and help recruit. This stallion should be one that has shown himself loyal to his herd and a worth fighter in battle. The Marshal should help the Lord direct fighters on the battle field. If something should happen to the Lord, the Marshal would step into his place. The Marshal may breed with any mare in the herd. This position May be challenged for.

    Precept- The Precept is the mare that has proven herself loyal her herd. She should have a courageous heart and be of adequate fighting skills. She is also to help protect the borders and recruit for the herd. In times of battle, the Precept should be one of the ones to escort the mares in foal and foals to Windsong Glade, where they will be protected. If something happens to the Lady, she will take her place. The Precept may breed with any stallion in her herd. This position May be challenged for.

    The Members
    Elder-Elders are the horses that have given vaulable service to their herds and are too old, or permanently injured to fight or act as broods for the herd. Their advice should be respected by all of the herd.

    Sentinel- These horses may be male or female. They are to watch over the herd and be the first to defend it. Sentinels may not breed.

    Stud- The stud’s job is fairly obvious. He is to breed with mares in his herdland so that the population might grow.

    Brood-Again, the brood’s job should be obvious. She is to breed with the studs and raise the young of the herd. A brood might also take in wandering foals.

    The Other
    Rogue- This rank is given to those that do not wish to be in a herd. They may do as they please, as long as they don’t upset herd life.

    Exile- This rank is thrown onto horses that have committed some crime, but not one to warrant death. They are confined to the Mordern Caverns until their sentence is up.

    Spirit-These are the horses that have died, but refuse to move on. They linger to impart wisdom, or get revenge.
