Dragon Types

There are many different types of dragons, and they all have a specific eye color. But, dragons in no way all look the same, or have any of the same colors. They just all have to look (very loosely) like dragons. Like, a dragon with six legs and no wings is fine. And a dragon with two sets of wings and no legs is fine. Or a dragon that has four legs and one set of wings is fine. And a dragon that has tiger stripes is fine. They don't even have to play the part of their element with what they look like. The eyes is the only signifier. A Blaze dragon could be bright electric blue, and a shadow dragon could be hot pink.
I hope you got my point.

Sunlight Dragons
Eye Color: Pale Gold
Magic: Sunlight dragons have a magic that is essentially the exact opposite of a shadow dragons. They manipulate light. They can create small, colored fairy lights, or blinding, diversionary flashes. Depending on a Sunlight dragons strength they may only be able to create dim globes of light, or they may be able to create an artificial sun.
Notes: Sunlight dragons are NOT ALL ANGELS! They can be kind or they can be cruel. A dragons personality is not defined by the element they control.

Shadow Dragons
Eye Color: Black
Magic: Shadow dragons have a strange magic. It allows them to manipulate the shadows about them. On a small scale, a shadow dragon can create shadow puppets, or dim a room. On a larger scale they can, if they have the strength, suck all of the light out of a room. Depending on how strong the dragon is, they may only be able to blindfold one person with shadows, or they may be able to enclose an entire city in a shadow bubble.
Notes: Shadow dragons are NOT EVIL! They often have catlike, aloof dispositions, but they are not evil!

Mind Dragons
Eye Color: Violet
Magic: Mind dragons have an amazing and unusual power. They can do anything they wish with almost anyone's mind. There are a few, called steelminds, who have natural sheilds that keep out mind dragons. Others have created their own sheilds, which serve admirably to keep Mind dragons from meddling in their heads. However, with an unsheilded mind, the only limits on a mind dragon, is their own imagination.

Spirit Dragons
Eye Color: Pale silvery grey
Magic: Spirit dragons are like mind dragons in that thier power seems to be ephemeral and fleeting. It's impossible to weigh or measure a Spirit dragons power. Spirit dragons control souls, generally those of the dead. They can destroy a soul, or send it to rest, or bind the soul to a body, reanimating the dead. They, like mind dragons, are only limited by their imaginations. All of them can instinctivly see spirits.

Forest Dragons
Eye Color: Forest Green, lanced with either pale green or sea green
ForestLeaf Dragons:
Magic: ForestLeaf dragons have magic relating to the growth of plants. They can speed up the growth of a plant, or heal it of a fungus. However, they cannot force an acorn to grow into a huge tree in a few seconds. The best they can do is encourage and strengthen growth. With quick growing plants, like ivy however, ForestLeaf dragons are powerful. ForestLeaves tend to lay elaborate booby traps, rather than get involved in fights physically.
Notes: ForestLeaf dragons have forest green eyes lanced with pale green

ForestReef Dragons
Magic: Like their ForestLeaf sibilings, ForestReef dragons have a magic related to growing things. With a ForestReef however, instead of encouraging the growth of land plants, they encourage the growth of coral reefs. They tend to be long-range planners, even more so than their ForestLeaf sibs, because coral grows so slowly. A ForestReef can also encourage the growth of kelp and seaweed, as well as some algae. It seems like a puny way of defending oneself, but a ForestReef dragons home is usually at the center of an intricate maze of corals, and the closer you get to the home, the more dangerous it gets.
Notes: ForestReef dragons have forest green eyes lanced with sea green. ForestReef dragons are also one of the two kinds of dragons with gills.

Earth Dragons
Eye Color: Brown or burnt Orange
Magic: An Earth dragons magic relates to the earth, obviously. They tend to be very flashy with their power, though it has more subtle uses as well. The most immediate, and obvious, way that an Earth dragon can use their power is to create earthquakes. The quakes may be confined to a small area about the dragon, or may roll out for miles, causing huge devastation. Also, Earth dragons can crack the ground deeply, just with the force of their magic. Earth dragons can also use their powers more subtly, to richen soil, or remove its nutrients.
Notes: Earth dragons tend not to fly very well.

Blaze Dragons
Eye Color: Red-orange
Magic: Blaze dragons are formidible and highly destructive in battle. They control fire and heat. They can do anything with fire, from lighting a candle, to burning entire forests down. Blaze dragons usually have power levels fluctuating about the level where they can burn stone and air for a few minutes, but cannot do much more. Usually they can make water-resistant fires, but can't make them totally invulnerable to water.

Ocean Dragons
Eye Color: Deep Blue
Magic: Ocean dragons have magic dealing with water. While they cannot cause storms, as Lightning dragons can, they can cause tsunamis, or throw globes of water. An Ocean dragon can usually call waves, but not tsunamis. Those who can call the monstrous waves, are legends.

Frost Dragons

Eye Color: Crystalline Pale Blue
Magic: Frost dragons, as their name suggests, control ice. As long as there is water about them they can freeze it. From merely riming a blade of grass in frost, to freezing entire lakes solid, a Frost dragon is limited only by his or her imagination, and their magical strength and stamina. Frost dragons are formidibla fighters, thanks to their ability to throw splinters of blade-sharp ice, or blow frigid air to freeze their attackers.

Shifter Dragons
Eye Color: White
Magic: Shifter dragons are rare, and their magic is powerful. Shifter dragons as their name suggests, are shape-shifters. They can take the form of any living thing, from a gigantic redwood tree, to a tiny grasshopper. Most Shifters prefer mammals or birds to change form into, but they are not limited to those families. A shifter can even take human form, a fairly disturbing ability for those bonded to one of the Shifters. However, a Shifter's eyes will always remain white, and they cannot obtain the abilities of other dragon types.
Notes: Shifter dragons are NOT BLIND! They have white irises, but, in fact, they can see perfectly.

Tech Dragons
Eye Color: Gold
Magic: Tech dragons are the true techologists. They actually see computer information and code, where ever they look, and can manipulate data and computers even when phyigally miles away from any computer terminal. Needless to say, a hacker with a Tech dragon is a huge problem on the clouds. A Tech dragon is one of the most carefully tracked by athorities, as the ethics of their powers may not be obvious to the dragonet or the new rider at first glance.
Notes: If you've seen the NBC show 'Heroes,' Tech dragons abilities are modeled on Hana's, or "Wireless", powers.

Lightning Dragons
Eye Color: Stormcloud Grey
Magic: Storm magic, what else? Lightning dragons can do what Ocean dragons can't, call storm. From a soft summer shower to a furious hurricane, depending on power, all types of storms are within a Lightning dragons reach. These dragons love storms, often flying among the lightning bolts. Being struck is no hardship for them, and actually increases their power for a short time.

TimeDragons
Eye Color: Constantly Shifting
Magic: Time dragons are the strangest of all dragons. Their magic seems to be the most useless of all dragon types, but if used correctly, at just the right moment, a Time dragon can be an equal match for a Blaze or Lightning dragon. A time dragon can speed up or slow down a persons perception of time, which can be used in a fight to make everyone seem to be moving slowly, or in torture, unfortunatly to make the victim experience even the slightest pain as lasting forever. Time dragons can also glimpse the future, though rarely farther ahead than the next few hours at most. In a battle this can be a priceless advantage in predicting another fighters motions.
Notes: Time dragons are lethal fighters and don't take kindly to insults.
