After Applying

Check this page to see if you were accepted or denied. Please consider the comments we have posted if you do decide to reapply, which we encourage you to do!

Also this page is for others to see common mistakes made when applying.

February 26th, 2010:

Riley Channing - Profile sections were under word count, and we didn't feel that her powers - particularly the mediumship portion - were explained very well. The inclusion of energy blasts didn't quite make sense, either. Fleshing the powers section out a bit more would be appreciated. ^_^

February 21st, 2010:

Hikari Otomiya - Unfortunately the site and, more specifically, the X-Men are loaded on healers. Including a mutant who heals with his blood. Unfortunately we won't be accepting the character due to her powers. (Also, Hikari isn't that hard to pronounce. ^_^)

Sirius Creed - The admins found the powers to be a little more complicated than they needed to be and we feel that things might be clearer if you went with something like plasmablasts/bursts or lumokinesis with light blasts since it's a similar theory without the cosmic star power.

February 17th, 2010:

William Conway - Below word minimums, but not a bad application. Sample could use a more illustrative detail on his surroundings, rather than a play-by-play of what he's thinking.

February 4th, 2010:

Jocelyn Wilturn - Appearance was under word minimums. We also found the inclusion of various canon characters - some of whom aren't on the site - in her history to be a little odd.

February 3rd, 2010:

Jackson Parker - At present, the admins consider Memory Manipulation to be too strong of a power to be given to someone we're unfamiliar with. The power is a plot device we don't feel the site currently requires, though that may change in future. We would prefer you reapply with another power or, if you would like, a completely different character so that you may possibly reapply with him once we've gotten to know you better. Sample was also a bit weak.

January 30th, 2010:

Kitty - Her information seems jumbled and lacking, ie her shapeshifting capabilities are left confusing and unclear because they've been inserted into the Appearance section to boost it up to the word minimum. Please re-apply with some more detail/information in all sections, in a more organized fashion. Also, a last name is generally required.

Kale Manson - A good application, though his powers are an issue as they force other characters to act a certain way against their will, and there appears to be no alternative or 'off-switch'. Please consider some limitations to Kale's abilities, and re-apply.

Vincent Adams - An interesting power, but your sample is incredibly brief and non-descript. Please re-apply with more detail.

Marcus Sol - The application goes into detail about who Marcus can and cannot safely heal, but not as much what his ceiling is. How powerful are his abilities and what are his limitations? If he heals someone slowly so as not to expedite their deaths, to what severity a wound can he eventually mend? What is the effect on his stamina, how long before he exhausts himself by healing others?

Ethan Blythe - Though an interesting twist on the telekinesis, his powers are in a list format, which is frowned upon. Please re-apply, with the powers more detailed, and an idea of how powerful the levels of his light and electricity generation can be.

January 21st, 2010:

Jocelyn D. - I'm sorry if it wasn't clear but we won't be accepting the character with metal manipulation powers and strongly recommend you either stick with just technokinesis or pick another power all together. RP Sample was quite improved.

January 21st, 2010:

Jocelyn Diamante - While we think that the character's ability to understand the properties of metal is an interesting twist, it's not quite big enough for us to add another metal manipulator to the site when the three we have are already quite active. The RP sample could use a little work (description of her surroundings, a word other than 'she' to refer to the character...) but overall the character shows promise. I will note, however, that the site currently lacks a technokinetic/technopathic (communicates with machines, controls machines).

January 10th, 2010:

Jericho Goodchild - Unfortunately we don't really know how much use an Ozymandias (from Watchmen) clone would be on the site, so we're going to have to decline your application. Slightly overpowered with all the mental abilities, there.

January 3rd, 2010:

Sabor Jillian - Well below word minimums on personality and history. As well, the application itself didn't make a lot of sense. Was foster care really so bad that she escaped regularly and had to be taken back? And if she was dropped off as an infant, why doesn't she know her own history since then.

December 10th:

Dmitri Vasily - The admins are very confused about Dmitri's ability to see all possible futures. Particularly how his power would be roleplayed out in interactions with other characters, as the version in the sample... well, it doesn't make a lot of sense even with NPCs. The sample itself was kind of lackluster.

Dominic Rmye Fisher - While the character, overall, wasn't that bad, the admins were strongly put off by the power. Being able to control another person's character doesn't generally go over well here. Feel free to apply with a different power.

November 27th:

Danica Gravelli - Unfortunately the admins are confused as to how Danica's power allows her the ability to control people's bodies. Since smoke goes into the lungs, not the brain, it doesn't make a lot of sense. We're also not exactly keen on powers of that nature (meaning mind control) in the hands of people we're not familiar with.

November 13th:

Nabirye - The powers need more improvement because they are extremely vague. If her body 'automatically' accesses her acquired fishy DNA what changes would take place? Would she breath underwater? It's extremely broad and thusfar the admins are not really fans. It's sorta coming across as a really subtle shapeshifter/feral. If she and there were SEVERAL timeline errors in the history. Gabrielle has ran the school for the last 4-5 years, not Xavier since he's been gone for quite some time. And Jean was dead during the Sentinel attacks. Please get with an admin (Gabby, plz) to get those errors smoothed out. And YAY she's a rebel just like everyone else...
Also. Gabby is scary when it comes to lacking a last name (Please get one).

November 10th:

Betsy Braddock - We've got a butt-load of telekinetics right now and a fair amount of canon characters as well. It wasn't a bad application, but being under the word minimums equals auto decline. Feel free to reapply, but please note that the admins will still need to discuss whether or not we'll be letting another canon character onto the site.

Oct 27th:

Abigail First - we have a shit ton of telepaths/telekinetics already k thnx.

Oct 15th:

RaeBlade - Persona, History, and Appearance sections were all below word minimums. Beef up and feel free to reapply.

October 13th:

Jack Sullivan - Memory Manipulation is an ability we'd hesitate to give to even our oldest and most experienced members, considering how overpowered it is. I'm sorry, but unfortunately it falls under our shortlist of powers that we won't be accepting on the site. A list I SWEAR we had kicking around here somewhere...

September 12th:

codybanks26 - Nice app, but extremely under word count. It did make us laugh, though. ^_^

August 30th:

(I swear we've accepted/denied applications since the 18th of July! I guess we keep forgetting to write down an explanation...) Lance Alvers - Since you only joined the site as your first character, Jayce, yesterday we're going to deny this for now. It's really too soon for a second character, though we appreciate the enthusiasm for the site. Please take a week or two to reevaluate the application since, at the moment, it seems rushed. Really try to research the character and elaborate on him further.

July 18th:

Sarafina: you toggle back and forth between your charrie being female and male in the app several times. Is this done purposefully out of him/her being androgynous? Also, need more description on how your character can somehow produce breathable air out of nowhere. Appearance is well below the word-count minimum.

Roane Thomas: We have too many people that can build shields with their powers, and apps with that sort of ability have been denied for some time now for that reason. And there is still no description on how powerful his blasts are, which we have asked for in the past. Currently we are not accepting anymore X-Men/students either, and we’ve had to turn down other applicants because of that and we can’t play favorites here, unfortunately. Reapply with his powers dialed down a notch and as a loner/BH’er and we’ll talk. I know Mags would love to have some youth restored to him still.

June 27th:

Raine Moirae: So yeah… obviously your app was denied. For starters, pick one of the THREE powerful abilities you applied with if/when you decide to reapply. Seriously. Telepathy, mediumship, and precognition all described in under 350 words is fail. Weaknesses weren’t really weaknesses, they were just drawbacks and history seemed incomplete. Demonic Possession. Wow. Really? We know worshipping Satan used to be the cool thing to do back in the day, but let's be honest, Ray Wise himself isn't going to take time out of his busy schedule to carve a name into some young chick's hip. I mean, he'd at least have the class to add 'wuz here' to the end. On a more practical, less-sarcastic note, how would the event of an RP possession be rectified? Seems the only people able to do so are high-ranking characters, which just screams 'I was made to be the center of a dramatic plot'. We've had people like that here before, and it's never ended well. Find a way to contact an admin if you have any questions.

June 21st:

Smartfiredragon: More copy/pasting and the history section was blank. We talked about this, yo!

Talia Delano: Not a bad application, but considering how strong of a power you applied with, we’d like more detail into the powers section, and perhaps a little more in the sample. This request is done ‘cause we already have at least one gravity manip’er, and we are fans of variety. Also, a side note: we spotted a pet peeve in the powers section. One would have a hard time “unconsciously” manipulating anything since unconscious implies that she is asleep. Perhaps you mean consciously?

June 16th:

Smartfiredragon: I’m calling you that since you didn’t apply with a charrie name. In fact, you didn’t apply with much of anything. And considering we link the activate evolution site at the bottom of the powers page, it would stand to reason that we can recognize when powers have been copy/pasted from there. Seriously. Don’t do that. We’ll catch it every time. We’re just going to pretend you accidentally hit submit on that app when you were filling out the weaknesses, appearance, history, and sample sections. ‘cause we’re forgiving like that. To help you out, we suggest you just nix the molecular manipulation and DNA absorption altogether as they are uber restricted abilities.

June 8th:

Rainn Templar: I, personally, am a sucker for physical mutations! I loved your charrie idea and the RP sample! But we're a stickler for word count and your personality section was too short. Please resubmit with another paragraph and we'll be cool. *wink, thumbs up*

May 29:

Oliver Moore: A very well-written app, but unfortunately we JUST accepted another character that bears striking resemblance to the one you submitted with. Like, it’s scary how they’re so similar. The main issue we had with Oliver besides that was that self-healing is perma-restricted. Yes, you had a very interesting twist, but it’s still restricted. I feel compelled to mention that the RP sample you submitted with was bloody brilliant, kiddo. Nice work. You know how to get a hold of the admins if you have any questions, mah dear.

Austin Young: A fantastically bare-bones application, especially since we already told you other ways to buff it up. And by buffing an app up, that does not mean adding that he has big legs and can make a pot roast into the powers section to boost word count. That is the epitome of lame, my friend. On that note, we still are hesitant to accept a future-sense power since they’re so easy to become OP’d, and your description of his powers did nothing to quell that worry from us admins. There was no mention of the site plot in the history (which is almost shameful), and no sample. Resubmit with a more detailed description of what he can and cannot do with his power and how easy those abilities come to him, take a moment to read over the plethora of information we have in regards to XSG’s plot and add it into the history, and submit a sample. On a more subjective sideline - stop harassing people in the c-box and the admins will look more favorably upon you.

May 26

Perlothiel (Alexandra): Now, usually with these little blurbs I try to be helpful by suggesting ways for the applicant to beef up/fine tune the app so I feel compelled to do so here. For starters: do not put child porn or a rape scene in an application. If you feel that you absolutely must, details on those events should be dulled down tremendously, to mere suggestive wording and nothing more, and a lot more about the character's life around those times should be filled in. Despite the history, the application was well-written. Empathy powers are restricted, however.

May 22

Austin Young- Personality section did not meet minimum word count. Also, it would have been nice to see more detail into the power section, rather than just read of it's applicability to sports. And X-Men apps as of today are officially restricted.

Akia Seyo- under word count in just about every field and frankly, was overall not even a bare-bones app. On a more subjective note, the character seemed really cliche. Not all shadow-wielders have to hiss when the sun hits their pale skin and ebon-colored hair. =/

Shirley Colt - sorry, but at present we're not currently accepting people with mental powers such as telepathy, empathy, telekinesis, etc for the X-Men. Feel free to reapply with that well-written app of yours as a BH'er or a lone mutant. ^^

May 15th

Andew Vuon - For starters, the admins were kind of confused as to what exactly his power was. It appeared to be illusion based, which in and of itself was fine but the fact that he uses it to manipulate people did indeed come off as being persuasion-based. Which, if you scroll through some of the other rejected apps, is met with great trepidation on our parts. And that’s simply because in an RP setting persuasion powers tend to be somewhat power played OR vastly under played. Both of which are more than just moderately upsetting to read.

Also, sample was confusing and lacked any sort of explanation about what was going on. Who were Mr. Brown and Mr. Amingo? It wasn't explained at all and was very hard for the admins to read without being properly formatted.

Tips: Put more detail into the power description. Could you give us a better example of his ability? What kind of illusions can he pull off with ease? What kinds are more difficult for him? Does he have to be touching the target? Can he target/fool more than one person at a time? If so, how big is his radius? Does the illusion get weaker with each added target? See where we’re heading?

May 6th

Wade Wilson - Sorry, but this is an X-Men site not a Marvel Universe roleplay. Despite the recent Wolverine Origins movie, we do not consider Deadpool to be all that involved with the X-Men. Especially considering that we are a non-canon site for the most part. Additionally, the personality was way below word minimums.

March 14th

Saul Livingston - Overall, we liked the character. What we'd like to see (other than a bit of paragraph formatting 'cause it's very wall-o-text atm) is an explanation of how frequently he can do the bursts of strength and how strong he is while on it. And maybe a downside to his chameleon powers of being spotted while - say - throwing a fire escape at a crowd of people? :D Also, the BSG fan in me will forever see 'Tigh' as his last name.

Dakota Jannen - We're just curious as to whether or not the copies can share their experiences with Dakota when they merge back with her. Oh and her codename should totally be 'Root' since she's the original copy. *shifty eyes*

March 12th

Leah McAdams - Based on your past history on the site, I'm afraid you're being denied on the grounds of inactivity. Which is the same reason you were deleted in September's Activity check. If I remember correctly, you're still in the process of revamping XMP. I hope that goes well for you.

March 11th

Alexander Tiberious Powers Jr. - Overall the character seemed quite inconsistent. His powers make him a cyborg. His history makes him an intelligent child like Forge or Nikko, and his appearance makes him a bodybuilding punk that can fight back. Like you're trying to make him the 'perfect' character. It is also never explained how he can make the nanobots. Immortality is generally frowned upon as well, and the method described would result in a non-human body. Sample could also use more detail.

March 3rd

Zianna Conner - Power mimicry issues aside, application was much too short, far below minimum word requirements. She also seemed to possess no limitations to her mimicry abilities, and we're not that keen on "Peter Petrelli"-ish characters.

Jacob Smith - Most characters on XSG are in their late teens, early 20's and 30's. Between their ages and Jacob's, it's a huge gap. Also, the time-control ability, while limited to essentially speeding himself up (although you wrote it as slowing everyone else down), has the potential to be godmoded and powerplayed. I'd prefer to see it written out as being associated with his powers. More of a perception of things around him slowed down, but more limited ability to act on it. We would definitely like to see you reapply.

Nikita Hylton - The whole application seemed a little flip-floppy (fragile but will only break an arm if hit by a semi?) and the power description was a little odd. I think what you were going for was gravity manipulation, but that's not how it was written out. Roleplay Sample could've been better.

February 24th

Emma Frost - At present, Emma Frost is a reserved character. The application was also considered 'minimal' for what we expect from canon character applications. You are welcome to reapply as an original character.

Chamile Taren - Application fields were far under minimum word count, and detail in the powers section was particularly lacking explanation on how her power works or what her limitations are. Considering the potential over-poweredness of power mimicry, I think that it might be a power for someone's secondary character, rather than their first character on the site.

Adeline Reed - Unfortunately, apps that force another person to make their character act a certain way generally do not make it into the site. While we overall like the character, her powers and the near-telepathy of them (telepathy being uber restricted at the moment) mean that she's not making it in this time. But please reapply with a different power. (and use ""s for talking in your posts/sample, rather than italics)

January 23rd

Lachlan McCall - We currently have several metal manipulators on the site. We do approve of the overall character, though, and encourage reapplication with different powers.

January 16th

Lizzy Schneider - We'd like a little more detail in the RP sample, since it seems quite bare-bones.

Jade Verisen - Unfortunately it's been pointed out that several (five) characters already have feral-esque minds. This is for various reasons, from Logan's... Logan-ness... to Teddy's ursine shapeshifting and Kiska's feline feral-ness. We do like the character, though, but find the overall application to be a little bare bones. Her personality could be elaborated on.

Ciro (seero) de Luca - Power section doesn't meet word minimums. And he reminds me hardcore of Gluttony from Full Metal Alchemist. (Not necessarily a good thing, mind.)

January 8th

Richard Belovski - Your appearance section was below the minimum word requirement.

January 7th

Richard Belovski - We do not accept applications that have list-format sections. Which you did for appearance. We also have a character with the alias of 'Hack' already. RP sample could use a little more detail of the character's surroundings.

Ava'donna Ide Allannah - Application was not filled out. Powers/appearance/history/weaknesses and sample sections were empty.

January 4th

Eoghan Augmenter - As discussed, his power is too broad.

Carla Walker - Unfortunately, we consider psionic blasts to fall under telepathy/telekinesis, which is presently uber-restricted. The profile overall came off as rambling on a bit as well.

Less characters with severe mental disorders (multiple personalities, schizo, etc.). It's been done to death.

Applications for X-Students have once again opened up. Original characters are vastly preferred over canon characters, as we have quite a few of the latter on the site.
