FAQIf you have any questions, feel free to ask. Someone will have the answer, and if not, we'll make one up.Who's the administrator?Jo (Eclipse, Galan) created Abditi. Adele (Hiros), Smoe (Vanithe), and Kate (Vivica) are also admin. What's the current plot? There are rumors of a war starting up, some of the reincarnates have realized who they are, and a scroll has been found in the ice realm. Strange characters have started to pop up everywhere, all which seem to have a strange connection to a man named “Galan.” I didn't get a high position, how can I get involved?Be active! If one thread fails, start another. But we also try and have a monthly festival for your enjoyment, and a few threads featuring our mysterious NPCs, played by your lovely admins. And of course there are scrolls to be found and people to meet. return to topWhat's the year?10,376 A.S.G. (After the Sealing of the Gods) Does Abditi Caelus have a calender? Y'know, four seasons, twelve months...Indeed it does! Although it varies depending on what realm you're in, as does the length of year (and day). Amir is usually considered the standard for conversion, for instance, one year in the Fire Realm is equal to 1.3 Amirian years. But each realm has four seasons which are each divided into three months. What language do they speak in Abditi? The common tongue is Amirian, and everyone speaks that language. But each realm also has its own language and a few species have their own language as well. Sepents have the unique ability of knowing their 'snake language' naturally (however it takes time to develop, like any other language.) Dark: Dekian Light: Lilnian Earth: Bokian Storm: Ecalbrese Fire: Pentian Water: Opanian Ice: Nilvalian Sepent: Serpish Fallen: Nokaian Do the Dark and Light Realms have day/night? And how bright are they?Of course! But it is slightly different. The Light Realm never gets as dark as any other realm, the average person would be able to see fine, and the night is a little shorter there. The Dark Realm, on the other hand, has dimmer light, and for the most of the day it has more of that dusk time red to it. At night its pitch black and only a native would be able to see through it. return to topSo how is the government run in Abditi? Each realm has a lord or lady (except Amir), and their word is law. But every town (save some of the very small ones) has a mayor and/or a council of elders that enforces the laws set and pass judgment. If a Lord or Lady doesn't rule Amir, then who does?A governor elected by the townspeople, unlike the other lords, this one doesn't have any extraordinary powers or long lifespan. return to topWhat about their religion? Do they have churches, or what? Each realm is slightly varied, but they all have temples throughout. The two largest temples in each realm are always for Amara and whichever god rules that realm, except, oddly, for the Ice realm, where the second largest temple is for the dark god Thantos instead of Amara and Amir itself, which second largest temple is for the earth god Dalius. Across the realm there would be smaller temples for all the other gods, which citizens go to either because their main god is worshiped there or for practical reasons. Ex: In the light realm the main two temples would be for Amara and Eva, this is where the main population goes to pray. There would be other smaller temples across the lands for the other gods. A Leaf living in this realm would go to a temple for his god, Dalius, instead of Eva's temple. A Light might go to Dalius’ temple to pray for a good harvest. Is there anything sacred in every realm?Yep, for reasons currently forgotten, the tiger (excluding white tigers) is a sacred animal. Are there other religious aspects to Abditi besides the seven gods/goddesses?It's them and that's it, there's no heaven, no hell (though hell is still a term), no underworld, no Zeus, etc... What if my character doesn't want to believe in Amara, or the other gods? Then you are deemed insane and locked away, or executed. But either way it isn't very pleasant. Why can't I join as a witch?"Witch" is a special term used in the realms for creatures that defy the magical ability (see above) of their species. They are generally not accepted and are seen as pure evil since they are not bound to the magic Amara gifted the rest of their race with. They also are seen as bad omens because dark events seem to follow people whom encounter them. Witches are normally executed by the city when they are discovered, usually they are torched, but there have been instances in which the towns have drowned or beheaded their witches. return to topWhy can't I be an angel, demon, or anthro?!They interfere with the setting, but I'll give you a more in-depth explanation. Angels and demons and are typically associated with good and evil and have white and black wings. Which then associates them with the dark and light realm, and I've been trying my hardest to keep people from assuming the light realm is the 'good' and the dark realm is the 'bad'. Certainly the dark realm isn't a very nice place and a lot of bad things are happening there, but the element itself is not necessarily evil. (However, make note, most IC characters assume it is.) I don't appreciate these creatures deemed evil or good by nature coming from the realms. Also, winged beings are Evanders; to have separate species for ones with specifically white or black wings is just a nuisance to me. In the case of anthros, they just don't fit well anywhere in Abditi. I've had people apply as part elf part Icin before and it bugs the heck out of me because the little common sense I have left tells me no fox or cat just mated with an elf being and conceived a child. Can I have a gun?Nope! This is a medieval setting. There are swords and daggers, spears and javelins, maces and staffs, crossbows and spoons (yes, spoons) but no modern weaponry. return to top |
