Be as realistic as possible. No werewolves or vampires. You can apply, we might even accept you, but don't expect to have a job or go to Hogwarts.
Try to mirror post. We ask for at least two paragraphs with five sentences at the very least, but we'd rather if you just matched the other person/people in the thread.
Follow the dress code. The books one, not the stupid, weird movie one. Black hat (for formal affairs), black robes, black, black, black.
Be active. If you're going away though, tell us. There is a deletion spree the last day of the month, and you have to do more than log in to escape it.
Don'ts
Godmode. No, no, no. In battles, it is best to discuss with the other person how you wish the battle to go.
Complain if you are denied. An admin will always contact anyone who has been denied and try to fix the problem.
Fight OOC. Sure, characters hate each other, but that does not mean the character players have to.
These rules may be changed as the admins see fit.
