MagicWARNING: The magic system on this roleplay site is fairly complicated. This is done to provide a logical basis for the powers that people have. You won’t just get to be all powerful for no reason. All we ask is that you put some thought and effort into your character so that it makes sense why they are so strong.
The Point System In Merovech your level of power is based off of a point system. This will be used to determine how powerful the spells are that you can cast are. However there are certain clauses that further dictate who is stronger than whom. Determining Base Points Base points are the first factor used to determine power level. Many things go into determining base points, such as race and time spent in training. To determine the base points you add up your points from each section. The total is your base point. If your base point ends up a zero you cannot possibly use magic. The OOC points apply to the character in question, for example if you have multiple characters the COTM point would only go to the character that has been awarded it, or has been around the allotted amount of time for the time based points. Racial Base Points Born Werewolf – 0 Turned Werewolf – 0 Human - 1 point Turned Vampire - 1 point Dragon - 2 points Pureblood Vampire - 3 points Demon - 4 points Fae - 4 points [Other: If your character doesn’t fall into any of these categories contact Kass(Lachesis du Ponteloc) or Hannah (Reizo Zinan) or Heather (Nori Rokuro)] Training None - 0 points A year - 1 point Two years - 2 points Three or more years - 3 points Years Spent in Practice 0 – 20 years – 1 point 20 – 50 years – 2 points 50 – 100 years - 3 points 100+ - 4 points OOC Points Been awarded COTM – 1 point Been on the site over a month – 2 points Been on the site over 6 months – 4 points Four Chosen Types of Magic Every user that chooses to use magic and has enough points to do so can choose 4 different (5 if only you are an archmagi) types of magic to use. This goes for both Elemental and Ritual magic, although Ritual magic can only be used by humans (and variations of human breed: vampires, werewolves, and those that used to be human). Adepts [1-8 points]: You are just learning the basics of magic, you can use your 4 chosen types, but you aren’t as powerful as an acolyte, titled or archmagi. Acolyte [8-16 points]: You are getting more powerful, you can use your 4 chosen magic types with ease, but you aren’t as powerful as a Titled or Archmagi. However, this only goes for documented races, if you make up a race it doesn’t count.
