(This is where you stare in reverence at your computer screen and are awed by the greatness...)
Why are you not reverent and awed yet?
Okay, onto the actual Laws, instead of my insane rambling. WAIT! One more thing...
As to the formatting of this page, the Laws are divided into sections; these categories will be distinguished by the bold and underlined font. Beneath these, on bullet point, will be the rules for said section.
The Golden Rule: (see, I even made it gold!) Don't take yourself too seriously here. Olympus is here for people to relax and have fun, and if you take yourself (or anyone else for that matter) too seriously, you're not going to have nearly as much fun as you could, and you may make it less fun for others! So try to relax, and have some laughs.
Question not the word of the Site Owner; her word is absolute.
Listen to those that out rank you. This is so obvious, I don't know why I'm putting this here. But I am.
We're reasonably lenient on post length, just try to keep it to a minimum of four sentences, and if possible, try to do as much as the person posting with you is doing. (Or near to it)
As long as we're on posting, keep in mind grammar and spelling.
There is a time and a place for chat speak. And unless you're trying to play "n00b", Oly is neither of them.
I don't care how many characters you have. Seriously, have a million for all I care. Just keep them active. And don't have all their names in your username. It's annoying. Just put your main character's name, or have a nickname. Nicknames are fun.
For those of you who take advantage to the previous rule, we have a convienient board for you to put all your profiles so you don't have to clutter your user profile. You need to put everything in there (even if its in your user profile, the Admins will not search and chase down the information they want), and all your profiles must be in one thread. It reduces clutter and keeps everything neat and organized.
I reserve the right to delete anyone who isn't on for a month straight without notice. A month being, not a set total of days, rather as, if you haven't been on since the third of last month, and it's the tenth, I reserve the right to delete you, and not have to explain why. Got it? Excellent.
Furthermore, anyone who has been accepted but has not posted a character for approval for two weeks also gets the boot. We don't need your empty member profile cluttering up the member list if you don't plan on being an actual member.
Keep an eye on the Weyrfolk/Pet page if you have a new character; we try to get it updated within a couple of days, but it might slip our minds, if a character of yours is missing (or some of the information is inaccurate) feel free to message Dana or Ally and we'll get it fixed as soon as possible.
You. Yeah, you. The one thinking about applying. Have you read all the pages? I mean all the pages. You see that little one, right beneath the rules? Called Tidbits? Yeah. Go read it. Now. I am sick and tired of having to reject people because they're not reading that page. There is important information on that page. Very important information.
Please keep swearing down to a minimum... I mean, if you're ranting, or you feel the need to swear, it's ok, but not every other word, ok?
No Discriminatory Comments. Ever. We will NOT tolerate this.
Be insane, we don’t care. We all are anyways.
Don't be mean. Being mean is reserved for Ally. That's her job. Leave it to her. If you really feel the need to be angry and mean, do it on the ranting board. Then people who don't care to read things like that don't have to.
Don’t like something going on IC? Don’t like something about the site? Tell Dana, she cares. I don’t. There’s a Board to complain to her. Use it.
Just a piece of advice, give us your contact information (e-mail addresses/messenger SNs - MSN especially preferred) you don't HAVE to of course, but it's going to be one of the easiest ways to get really involved with the site. And trust us, you'll enjoy yourself more if you do. We like our members, and enjoy talking to them and plotting with them, giving us your MSN SN gets you invited to our crazy MSN chat parties, which are a wonderful mess of crazy, occasionally half-baked, ideas for future plots, character development and the like. We like to think they're lots of fun, but if you don't trust us ask Spazzy, Verity, Iliki, Flicker, Ezekiel, or Iris.
In regards to sexually explicit acts between characters. We don’t care how far you want to go, as long as you distinguish in the Topic name that there is mature content. That way, anyone who doesn’t want to read things like that doesn’t have to.
Your Character may be discriminatory. We don’t care with that. If there were no discriminatory people in the world, it would all be sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows… I could use a lollipop right now… Oh, right, and that wouldn’t be at all interesting, would it?
Seeing as we're having a lack of activity of the board, I'm inducting a new rule! You must be role playing in a thread other than a hatching/bonding if you wish to participate in a hatching/bonding!
You can post your characters in as many places as your heart desires, we have no rules about characters being in multiple places at multiple times.
If for some reason the person(s) you're RPing with vanish, and YOU object to having characters in more than one place at a time, just message Ally or Dana and we'll close and archive the topic.
There are only a few rules for pets, you can only start with a max of THREE pets per character, and only ONE queen per account. Other than that, have fun with it!
A little amendment to the above. We will, under no circumstances, allow the bringing in of Heras, Golds, Eternals, Ekundus, or any other senior/primary Queens. Primary Kings will be very limited.
No forced Impressions. You might get mauled. But if you want to be mauled, try to force an impression.
Don't like the color you got? Hmmm... you must've totally pissed off the admin or the person holding the clutch. We will usually stick to your preferences if you message them to us, or put them in your profile, but not if you only give us one. Provide a few so we have some room... Otherwise you'll get nothing or something you don't want. There's also a chance that what you got was for a reason, we will sometimes ignore color preferences if we have something specific in mind for a certain character.
Be nice to the parents of the Clutch, or I’ll be very unhappy… You don’t want to see me when I’m very unhappy…
Do I even have to go over the Weyrling rules? You should know them. If not, you shouldn't be here.
You will be required to attend all trainings done by the Weyrlingmaster. Miss one, and you're bound to fail, so you'll have to do everything all over!
Have FUN with it, seriously. I know most of us have done Weyrling Training countless times, but try to enjoy yourselves. Maybe even have your characters interact with other residents of the Weyr OUTSIDE of Weyrling Training. Not all Weyrlings are going to be good little dragonriders-in-training, some are going to do stupid stuff and get themselves in trouble. It's generally what people in the Weyrling-age-bracked do.
There will be Homosexual and Bisexual riders. If you don't like this, get over it. Also, if you wish to impress a certain gender of Dragon, please tell me. If you don't, I'll give you whatever Dragon I see fit, male, female, or otherwise.
If you do anything too horrible, the Site Owner Reserves the right to Between your Dragon. If she is feeling nice, she will give you a Wher egg, or let you stand at the next hatching. If she's not feeling nice, then you get to go insane or something.
NO QUEENRIDERS! Yes, this is a laid-back atmosphere, but we do need to put restrictions. With too many Queens, there's too many Dragonets, and too much hassle to get that many Candidates. Besides, we know you mean well and all, but frankly, you're new. We don't know you. So we don't really trust you with that power. If you really want a Queen, prove you deserve it. Then we'll see what's in store in the next hatching.
As long as we're listing limits, I'll continue. We are not allowing the transfer of Snow Dragons, Canons or Neo-Canons. Junikyus, Zodiacs, Arcadians, and Empyreans are very limited, you must ask an admin before you transfer one. Kings should also be cleared with an Admin, though they are not as limited. So long as the character request is reasonable, it'll probably be approved.
The FEMALE will choose who Flies her. And I give her permission to do some minor PPing, like "Green Oneth flapped away from her persuers, however she was not fast enough, so Blue Twoth caught her wingjoints easily. She struggled, but Twoth clung on tightly." In conclusion, she can play the male catching her, but that's it.
Males, your Dragon is wonderful and amazing, I'm sure, but he cannot anticipate the Female's every move. Trust me, no man can.
Females, your Dragon MUST be caught within two weeks of starting the Topic.
No Betweening in Flights! If your Dragon Betweens while participating in a flight, he or she won't come back.
I don't care how descriptive you get. But, put SOME type of warning on your Subject.
When your female is caught, I will message you with the clutch size and the content.
Your Dragon can lay her clutch whenever you want to within the next two weeks. Four days later will be the touching, and three after that is the hatching.
You must tell me first who you plan to give what, and have me approve them. I know this is harsh, but I've had problems with people playing favorites and using it to strengthen grudges, and I just don't like taking chances with that. Generally, though, most choices are approved.
