► WE ARE MARSHALL GOD
Yeah. Their house, their rules, y'know? Both admin are pretty nice people, but they do weild the purple admin hat and the banhammer, so please respect their wishes, rules, and temporary moments of insanity. If you do this, I think we'll all get along just fine.
► LEAVE YOUR DRAMA AT THE DOOR (OR SMUGGLE IT IN QUIETLY)
We understand that sometimes drama happens on RP sites. Sometimes, there are things that simply go beyond your control. As a member of Omerta, you agree to:
A) not post replies to someone OOC that diliberately continues an argument. This means in the cbox or in the forums.
B) not post public rants about how much you hate the site or people on it. This hurts the morale of everyone. This goes for blogs that you might have offsite and link to Omerta. If you need to bitch in your blog, please at least make it friends-only. It makes everybody look bad otherwise. D:
C) talk to the person you're having problems with, CIVILLY. Don't be scared! Most people generally don't know if they're doing something that upsets you. We're all human, we all make mistakes.
D) come to the admins IMMEDIATELY if you have a problem that can't be settled. It's what we're here for. If one of the admin is pissing you off, (probably Hannah because she's too blunt for her own good) tell them! Both Hannah and Julia are extremely kind, even on their off days. If you just can't reason with one of the admin, go to the other one. This is why we have both. :)
► DRUGS SEX AND ROCK N ROLL VIOLENCE
As you might imagine, a mob site is full of violence, at the very least. Be warned that drugs, sex, violence, and foul language will probably be everywhere. Keep the kids away! This is your only warning. Threads should also be marked in the title if something is explicit in terms of sex, violence, or even drugs. That being said, hardcore sex talking in the cbox is outlawed. Not everybody wants to see that.
► GRAMMAR IS NOT FOR QUITTERS
Check your posts. Nobody likes an RP that they can't reply to because they can't comprehend it. Same goes for spelling. Please please please make sure to at least attempt good grammar. We understand that not everyone may be from an English-speaking country, but at least try. Nobody's perfect, and God knows Julia some people can't type to save their lives. This rule also means we expect you to follow the writing rules you learned in first grade. That means proper nouns are capitalized and the first word in the beginning of a sentence is capitalized. You're not being cute or arty by typing your post in all lower case letters. ;)
► BUT MAH ENGLISH TEACHER SAID--
Omerta is an advanced, literate RP. We do not demand a post length, but we expect you to put all of your skill into a post. We don't care if your paragraphs are 3 sentences or 11, but we do take notice if you consistently post one-liners. We are certainly a quality over quantity site. :) That being, said, however, there is a point where quantity affects quality, so make sure your post is long enough to be interesting!
► I LOVE FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS
Obviously, this is an important rule since probably 95% of the characters on this site will be damn fine killers. Absolutely no powerplaying or godmoding. You need to ask the other RPer for permission to injure/kidnap/whatever their character. You don't need to put "I asked permission" in your post. Instead, please work it out with the other RPer over AIM or PMs or in the cbox. If your character was injured/kidnapped/whatever without your permission, talk to the other RPer. We're all good people here, so this shouldn't be a problem, but since this is a mob site, we don't want people getting their undies in a bunch because someone shot their character without asking.
► GRAPHIX ARE LOVELY
Just remember what kind of site Omerta is. It's pretty dark, people die, and your character is probably a killer. Frolicking in the daisies with a hundred puppies probably wouldn't be a good post script unless your character is permenantly trippin' on acid, which would be HILARIOUS, no lie. Post scripts may be no wider than 540px and are only allowed on history boards.
► GOD GAVE US QUOTATION MARKS FOR A REASON
If you don't believe in God that's cool. You are still expected to use quotes. Please don't bold your speech. Nothing annoys one of the admin more than this, and you will get a warning the first time you do it. We know a lot of RPers are used to it, but think of it this way: not needing to type the html for bold will save you time!
► STENCIL WORK IS COOL
...But not in terms of characters. We like original characters a lot. If you want to make a stereotypical slutty lesbian or raging emo kid, do something to make them different. Go nuts. That being said, the following occupations are no longer allowed: stripper, model, prostitute.
► I AM IRONMAN
Hate to break it to you, but you're not, and neither is your character. Please keep in mind that in the real world, it takes time to develop skills, especially something like combat skills. So to be blunt, your character isn't going to be 18 and the world's best sharpshooter. It ain't happenin'. Please keep in mind that your character's age does directly relate to their skill level. The more practice they've had, the better they'll be, period. Sure, if they've been doing a certain skill for their whole lives, they'll be damn fine, but nobody is perfect at a young age.
► MULTIPLY LIKE RABBITS?!
We have a flexible two character rule. For every character you join with, you do need to provide an RP sample. Beyond the initial RP sample, these are more for your own benefit. It's easier to discover you can't RP a character if you have to try a sample with them, y'know? Now, I did say "flexible" on the two character limit. If you want another one, just PM an admin (Catherine Roseman or Juliette Kavanagh) with links to one active thread per character. If you have active threads for them, you can have another character. Simple as.
► I LIKE RE-VAMPS AND I CANNOT LIE
If you decided to rewrite your character's information when you're accepted, that's cool! Even the admin find things that they need to fix, or just get sick and tired of their old writing. But if you decide to make a major overhaul to your character, you MUST ALERT THE ADMIN. We don't appreciate it when people apply as one thing and create a whole new character once they've been accepted. This is especially true of Omerta, where characters obviously have specific roles to fill. If you just want to clean up your writing a bit, you MUST leave the old stuff in the character setup. At no point should your character's appearance/personality/history fields be blank. A bullet list will not fly. How are you supposed to plot when nobody knows anything about your character?
► STATE VS. FEDERAL GOV'T
This should seriously be a no-brainer, but please make sure you follow Acornrack's TOS. The main part of this rule involves linking to porn sites. Julia has seen this on other sites where userpictures have tags that lead to porn sites, and that directly violates AR's rules. This also means do not post pictures including nudity anywhere on the site. DO NOT DO IT or we'll cap your ass delete you without warning.
► TL;DR?
No godmoding; don't be a douche; we don't want to see your sex in the C-Box; use proper English; two-character cap; keep your kids away.
