Rules
In Character..
What everyone should already know..
- No Godmoding: If we see any of this, your gone.
- No Powerplaying: Again, if we see any of this, your out.
- Spamming: Um, yeah, no one likes spammers. Don't do this, its common sense.
Rated E for Everyone!
- Language: Because we are all mature enough here, cursing is allowed, but don't have your character saying "shit" every other word. If you do, put a warning in the title so people know to stay away from it.
- Romance: We encourage romance between characters, but if anything gets too graphic please place a clear warning in the title or take it elsewhere.
- Violence and Gore: Be as graphic as you wish, we all know how barbaric people can get, but if it becomes more than what most people would consider PG-13, place a warning in the title. As for killing, you may only do so with the permission of the other character.
Everyone please pull out your common sense and turn to page 5.
- Realism: This is a European Medieval/Fantasy setting, not modern, not future and not asian. This means you won't find computers, jeans, or t-shirts, kimono, hakama or anything obviously asian. This also means pregnant women don't give birth an hour later. I'm sure you can all judge for yourselves what is acceptable, but the admin might remind you if you're off.
- Aging: There is no formula on how fast a character ages, but don't keep them 18 forever. As for little children, a month or two as a little girl is plenty of time.
- Traveling: Whatever happens to your character on one board has to effect your future posting. We ask that you keep your character in one or two areas, but not all over Ostensia. Wait for one/two boards to finish before having your character jump to a different region.
- Hierarchy: Ostensian heirarchy is as follows.
Royalty > Duke > Marquess > Count > Lords > Craftsmen > Commoners
This means your character has to listen to those above them. Unless of course, they rebel and are willing to suffer the consequences that follows. Or if they are alone and then they can talk all the crap they want.
- Men and Women in Society: Ostensia is styled after Medieval society, and the propriety of the time dictates that women are not equal to men. Women may hold the titles of Duchesses, Marquess, Countess, and Lady. With these titles, they may govern what land and territory they own. Unmarried women in positions of power would, however, be pressured to marry. If married, their husband usually takes complete control over their land, though this is not always the case. No Princess can take the throne and become a ruling Queen, unless married, then the nobles vote on who should hold the power of the throne or if it should be shared.
We like literacy, yes we do!
- Post Length: There is none. But we do ask that you try harder than a paragraph, its really not that hard. Here in Ostensia we do this thing called "mirroring". If one person tries hard and comes up with 4 paragraphs, your required to try hard and at least leak out 3.
- Spelling, grammar, and proof reading: We ask that you use some word program for your spelling, though we won't kill you over a few spelling mistakes. Spellcheck doesn't correct grammar, however, so please reread your post to make sure it makes sense.
- Chatspeak: None of it here, sorry, take it elsewhere (like the OOC boards).
- Ooc Comments: Need to be separated by things such as () or {} or [], you get the idea. All OOC fights need to stay off the IC boards. Period.
Out of Character
The norm
- Literacy: Be as illiterate as you want in the OOC boards, use chatspeak or type out the chicken dance for all I care.
- Romance: Any graphical love making OOC is not allowed, take it over email or instant messaging. Kthnx.
Can I have 2438574958 characters plix?
- Accounts: Each character needs to be on a separate account. You are entitled to as many characters as you can handle, you NEED to use all of them, even if you have 2438574958.
- Limits on First/Second Degree Characters: Each member is limited to one first degree character and two second degree characters. Members may "purchase" extra first or second degree characters using points. For more information on this, members should see the Spending Points page.
