The Rules

Basic Character Rules:

1. We do not allow for more than one character to be played under the same name, unless they are blood related and on the same team. When you have random characters being played under one name and they are on different teams it causes confusion. We understand that some canon characters have to be played as more than one, but these canon characters are always on the same team which helps to avoid the confusion. Also if you want to play more than one character under a name that character has to be applied for that way.
2. Each role player is able to apply for a maximum of six characters. We know some people could handle a lot of characters at one time, but it’s preferred you not have more than six. It ensures that we won’t have to worry about a lot of inactive characters because one role player plays a large group of them.
3. If you get bored with a character and wish to change them to a different one, we understand that sometimes a character could become boring or have no effect in the plot. To change your character to a different character you have to get permission form the Admin or the Moderators because it would be the same if you just applied for a new character, we have to approve them. Also if your character switches teams please tell me so we can update that.
4. Unless your character is a canon DO NOT put your character into the history of this site. This means DO NOT say you've been here for years. Because you don't know half of anything that has happened on the site. And really I'm not a fan of pretentious people. So if you are applying for an original character or aren't a returning character from one of the past pages, you have not been at the school for days...weeks. months...or years. If this is in your history you will be declined.

Locked Powers:

1. Being part of Weapon X. The program has been shut down. It was rped and therefore no more on this site.
2. Immortality. We have more than our share of immortal characters. So outside of canon characters who have to have powers as creations of Marvel Comics, all immortal mutants will be declined.

Canon Character Rules:

1. Please be sure to research the canon character you want to be so you can portray them properly. This is a mainly New Excalibur based role play. So think before you apply. If you are picking a canon character that has never appeared in X-Men make sure you have a good back-story as to why that character is there now. Because we will not accept a character just because it‘s your favorite. Canon characters have to fit within in the plot of the site.
2. If you intend for your canon character to have made up characters as part of their family tree to please tell us in your application so that way if/when you talk about that character or that character is submitted for we will not contest their existence.
3. Remember that no matter how powerful a canon character may be even in the marvel comics and so forth they can always be defeated so just don’t godmode and act like because your character has say in Wolverine’s case that fast healing ability that nothing can hurt him.
5. This is an X-Men role play. So if you submit for a canon character from a different comic you won’t get them we’re sorry…alright so we aren’t.

Original Character Rules:

1. Remember to actually be ORIGINAL! Go to UncannyXmen or to Marvel Directory or Marvel and make sure that the name you have chosen is not currently in use by a canon character. Because if that name is used by a canon we aren’t going to accept you because if someone applies as that canon they will have to change the name a little just to get in.
2. We know that being original with powers if a complicated thing. Since marvel has covered basically everything there is out there. So we won’t be mad or deny you for having powers similar to a canon character. But keep in mind that you need to have something a little different with either adding a second power to the character or something along those lines. Also don’t try and pull off that you have like four powers to a character, our max for an original character is 3 powers that’s it.
3. Take into consideration what level you are applying for. Because we aren’t going to buy that a student has full control over their powers and all that, they are students because they don’t have full control and need to learn it.
4. Of course you all know that being an original does not limit what group you can apply for, all groups are open to canon and original characters alike.
5. If it gets to the point that we are seeing a lot of one type of power appearing on the site we well end up no longer accepting that power. We don’t like sites that have too many of the exact same abilities, it doesn’t make it interesting it makes it boring and well that’s not happening on this site.

In Character Rules

1. This is probably the first thing on every page out there. NO GODMODING!!!! It will not be tolerated.
2. We also expect that if you join this site you are capable of making a post of at least four sentences and that it is in legible English. We don’t want to see chat speak EVER used in a post. Chat speak is reserved for the chatter box and for the out of character pages. Also we understand that typos happen…sometimes they can’t be helped but please read your post before you submit and make sure you wrote something that is legible.
3. During a fight things are going to get broken. That’s fine the only thing we don’t want to see if the total destruction of a building that represents a board. The only way the demolition of a board structure is allowed in the plot is if you get consent from the Admin or a Moderator. And that is not even a definite that you will get the permission.
4. We are sure that there will be numerous characters that get involved in relationships, some characters might already come in a relationship. There will also be a lot of enemies made during role play. We just ask you don’t do these for the following reasons: Don’t have your character dislike a character just because you personally don’t like the role player. And when you play a canon character make sure that friends, lovers, and even enemies that you make coincide with the way that marvel character is. Do not try and make a canon character step outside the characters that marvel has given them.
5. For those characters involved in a relationship we are not going to limit what you post. But we will say this, if your characters are taking part in anything that is above a PG13 rating you have to make a note of it in your thread title so others know that they should read at their own discretion. And even then let’s remember this is role playing not porn!
6. This is a new one and something that has been bothering me quite a bit. Outside of humans an lone mutants there are NO NPCs! The XC only has however many members appear on the member list. The Brotherhood only has however many members appear on the member list. The Acolytes only have as many members appear on the member list. The X-men only have however many members appear on the member list. The X-Men Students only have however many members appear on the member list. Sure with Cannon X-Men that aren't taken can be mentioned even talked about...but if they are not being rped they do not live at the institute.

In Character Fighting Rules:

1. There is no limit of how many people can participate in one fight. If you are having a fight with a character and you want it to be restricted say so in the thread title or at the start of your first post on the thread so everyone knows that it is for reading not posting.
2. Fights of course consist of alternating turns. Each character is allowed to make up to four attacks in one post. For example a punch to the eye, the nose, the gut, and a kick in the groin. If your character makes an attack that the other role player feels could not have happened based on their last post they can call foul on you and that will get the Admin and Moderators involved where they will review the thread as a whole and determine if there was godmoding taking place.
3. We understand that in a fight there will be those non playable characters, the minions of a certain character. There is a limit of twenty non playable characters that can be used in one thread at a time. We think that is easy enough for everyone to understand and to follow.
4. As always during a fight you can only kill a non playable character. If the character is role played by another they can only die if the role player gives their consent.

Out Of Character Rules:

1. Anything said or discussed in Out of Character cannot be used In Character. If you and someone else are discussing a plot or and idea you can’t just have your character know it all as well. For example if in Out of Character the villains are talking about their plans for like an attack, your character cannot go and warn people about it because the character wouldn’t know that information
2. Respect, it’s very important. We don’t want to see anyone putting down someone else. All members are equal and all deserve respect. And we most certainly do not want anyone to disrespect us. We are the Admin and Moderators on the site and you should be treated as such.
3. We don’t like whinnying. If you have a complaint about something or someone pertaining to the site message the Admin or one of the Moderators for assistance. Do not bring your anger and annoyance to the boards because we do have guests that look at the site and if they see that type of attitude on the site they may not want to join.
4. No harassment of any kind. If you are caught harassing another member there will be no warnings you will just disappear. Especially if it is sexual harassment, because people come here to role play not to be harassed. So let’s respect each other enough to not harass.
5. Everyone is here to have fun, so give it a try. It’s not hard it’s an x-men role play everything is fun when it’s x-men. And to keep the fun alive let’s not resort to spamming...it’s annoying and not fun.
6. We know some people like to post pictures and stuff in Out of Character. We ask that you try and keep them clean. If the image you choose to display you feel might be too mature for some members say it in your thread title.
7. Everyone is allowed to make a character page, this allows for you to post pictures and all that fun stuff of your character. Just try to keep the images tasteful. We know that there are images out there that are good pics but they have mature content. Just use these images with discretion, don’t post images that are practically pornographic in nature. Also on your character page title throw something in about possible nudity so any member that is young and does not want to see that type of image knows not to look at your page.

The Consequences

1. The first time you break a rule of this site you will get a warning from either the Admin or one of the Moderators. This warning will be polite and private sent to you through the site messaging system.
2. The second time you break a rule of this site you will get a final warning from either the Admin or one of the Moderators. This warning many not be so polite and will be far from private. This warning will be posted in an Out of Character board for the whole site to read and know that you messed up.
3. The third time you break a rule of this site will be your last. There will be no warning. You and any characters that you play will be deleted. Your e-mail will be noted by the Admin and Moderators so that you are not accepted again. And for at least four months you will not be considered for re-acceptance.

Application Hint

On the Application it will ask for the Quote. You will have to read the rules to know this quote. And don’t get any idea that if you submit once you will be able to submit the same quote. Because this quote will be changed weekly to make sure people are actually reading the rules.
